Sustainability
RØ Praksis advocates design and architecture grounded in environmental stewardship. The sustainable future we pursue rests on a harmony with nature, architecture's enduring value as a vessel for life, and a commitment to social responsibility. We prioritize reducing environmental impact and creating spaces that remain sustainable for generations to come.
Environment
RØ Praksis is committed to sustainable architecture through the thoughtful selection of eco-conscious materials. We prioritize recyclable and renewable resources, such as timber from planned reforestation, recycled plastics, and eco-friendly paints, to create beautiful spaces with minimal environmental impact. Our designs are optimized for longevity, reducing the need for maintenance and minimizing waste. We also maximize energy efficiency by using smart building orientation and large windows to welcome natural light, while high-efficiency A/C systems and insulation ensure comfort and lower energy consumption.
Wood
We honor wood as part of nature, not just as a building material, and use sustainable design to highlight its best properties. As the only renewable structural building material, wood is central to our philosophy. We prioritize locally sourced timber from properly managed forests, reducing transport-related CO₂ emissions and supporting local economies. Using local species also ensures durability and energy efficiency because they are best adapted to the climate. This local collaboration with craftspeople and mills also strengthens our community ties.
Energy efficiency and energy-saving design
We are implementing optimal designs to enhance energy efficiency. For example, we utilize the orientation of buildings and large windows to harness natural light, and we introduce insulation materials and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems to provide a comfortable living space while reducing energy consumption.
Proposal for a sustainable lifestyle
I believe that not only the housing but also the lifestyle of the people living in it should be sustainable. Therefore, I recommend choosing eco-friendly furniture and interior items, and I propose designs that maximize the use of living spaces.
